Father's Day 2011

It was a wonderful Father's Day for Brad! We started the morning off as we do every Sunday morning by attending Mass, followed by burgers in the church hall. We didn't do anything out of the norm during the day; visited my grandma, cleaned the house, played with Camilla, relaxed, and tried to stay cool in the 100+ degree weather. Our little baby has been napping so much lately, and I don't blame her since it's rare that the temperature is under the triple digits here in the Lubbock area.

My mom made fajitas for dinner and lemon meringue pie for desert for the family! It was delicious, and Brad really enjoyed it. It's always fun when all of us get together. Of course, Camilla steals all the attention at the dinner table because the whole family absolutely adores her.

Brad and I don't really like to spend money on each other for these occasions, so for Mother's Day he made me a card, and I made him an origami box with a letter and  picture inside for today. Those are the gifts that really matter; the ones money can't buy.

When these important days take place it's nice to reflect on how far we've come. A year ago, it was hard to fathom having a baby, and now we can't imagine our lives without her. I remember last years Father's Day was not the best due to anxiety and fear of how our lives as parents would unfold. However, one year later it's good to know that those feelings have been replaced with love, happiness, and plenty of sweet memories. Overall, it was a wonderful day. Camilla is so fortunate to have Brad as a father.

Almost Crawling?

I have adjusted to the mother life quite well. I didn't realize how many new tricks mothers have to learn just to keep a watchful eye on their baby! Well, I have recently discovered the perfect way to see Camilla while I take a shower. This never used to be a problem when she slept for hours and hours during the day, but since she's become more active, I've had to adjust. It's actually quite easy considering I have glass shower doors and my bedroom is literally a few feet away. I just let her play on her mat while I shower and it all works out wonderfully. So today I was taking my shower, as usual. Camilla rolled over, as usual. At this moment she was facing the south side of my room; yes, I know, nothing unusual. So I close my eyes for a while to rinse my hair, and Camilla is suddenly facing the north side of my room! Since I didn't witness the actual turn, I decided that my eyes were probably playing tricks on me. I didn't think much of it for the rest of the day, until Camilla did something similar again. I put her down for a few seconds while I adjusted the temperature in my bedroom and Camilla had moved in another direction again. The "facing a new direction" thing is nothing new. She always turns to face new directions, but usually it takes a minute or two. I suppose our little girl is becoming quicker which means we are probably close to a crawling baby. It's bitter sweet for a mother to watch her baby grow up so fast. Everyone warns me that time flies by, but I just can't seem to let that fact sink in. In addition to her constant movement, she is also sitting up on her own for about 15 seconds. Everyday is a new adventure with our sweet baby. Who knows what her next big milestone will be! Either way, God has blessed us tremendously. Camilla is a complete joy!

My Sweet Camilla

Hello everyone! I know that with our busy lives, hectic schedules, and occasional need to just relax, it might be hard to find the time to check-in and see what's going on with the ones we love. Whether you are from Texas, Virginia or anywhere in between, I hope that this will be a convenient way to stay connected with our new little blessing, Camilla. I will update you on the milestones she accomplishes, the ways she makes us laugh, and any other important things that might be going on in her VERY eventful life! Thank you all for following :)
